About S.H.E. (Support, Help, Encourage)

Support, Help and Encourage (S.H.E.) is a mentoring initiative envisioned to empower, inspire and increase the educational success of female students at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC). Participants in the S.H.E. Program will work with peers, faculty, staff, and alumni to determine how to positively manage the college experience and to plan for life, work, and education after QCC. Skills and knowledge are presented through workshops derived from the students’ needs, and a one-on-one mentor/mentee relationship.

Mission

Our mission is to SUPPORT, HELP and ENCOURAGE Quinsigamond Community College’s female population.  This initiative is designed to empower and inspire. SHE strives to enhance and develop lives through mentoring allowing women to become builders of their own futures by presenting opportunities for academic, personal, and professional mentorship. This program fosters the empowerment of women by providing support and education around women’s issues in hopes of strengthening their personal lives, educational success and their commitment to the communities they live in.

Purpose

Mentors impart words of wisdom and guidance while giving insight into their firsthand knowledge and experiences. They act as role models to help motivate while providing emotional support. S.H.E. also offers educational and inspirational workshops. Our hope is that by introducing students to effective mentorship that they will feel connected to the college community in a way that encourages growth, provides support, and gives them the confidence they need to reach their future goals including graduation and transfer.

S.H.E. exposes students to:

  • Educational and social tutoring
  • Career development counseling
