Uncommon Job Fair Offers Opportunities for Job Seekers, Students

September 2016

For the third year, QCC participated in the UnCommon Job Fair held at the Worcester Common.

Sponsored by the Workforce Central Career Center, the job fair is an informal event, where job seekers can bring their resumes, get information from the area’s top companies and do some networking. The event was on September 9 at the Worcester Common.

“It is a great event to be involved in,” said Dawn Kiritsis, College and Career Navigator at QCC. “It offers a chance for companies and other community-based organizations to see what we offer.”

She said people approached her with questions about QCC’s STEM program, HiSET (high school equivalency) programs, job opportunities at QCC as well as students looking to return to college after taking time off from school. Sean Thomson, a STEM recruiter for the QCC Admissions Office, also attended the event.

“It is important to have an ongoing presence in the community,” Ms. Kiritsis said. “We are providing pathways for people.”

QCC partners with Workforce Central Career Center to provide information about the programs offered at QCC. Ms. Kiritsis is embedded at Workforce Central in Worcester three days a week, helping clients navigate enrollment steps. She also travels to Southbridge and Milford to provide services to potential students.
