PTK Organizes Fall Events, Hosts Scholarship Workshops

August 2016

This summer PTK members at QCC have stayed busy helping students apply for scholarships, volunteering in the community and organizing for upcoming chapter events.

Phi Theta Kappa, QCC’s chapter of the Alpha Zeta Theta Honor Society, offers many benefits. Students who are invited to join have put in a lot of dedication and hard work. The organization and chapter focus on the importance of academics and maintaining excellent grades, but also on developing important skills and community service.

The QCC chapter offers opportunities for scholar-servant-leaders to grow, develop leadership skills, networking skills, soft skills for the workforce, opportunities for deep thinking and researching for the bi-annual Honors Study Topic.

The PTK hosts scholarship workshops monthly to encourage members to apply for all the scholarships available to them. Check out one of our free workshops, and see what you can find!

On August 13, members went to the Community Harvest Project in North Grafton to harvest vegetables for those in need in surrounding communities. Earlier in the summer, the group harvested more than 1,500 lbs. of zucchini, summer squash and cucumbers. All of the vegetables picked go to the Worcester County Food Bank and affiliated organizations.

Honors in Action Project

As a part of becoming a Five-Star Chapter, Phi Theta Kappa chapters need to complete an Honors in Action Project. The Honors in Action Project encourages students to work together on a research project and develop a project that impacts the community and the world around us. Our chapter has been working diligently to come up with a project that will absolutely impact global perspectives.
