Children’s School Displays Artwork

May 2016

During the Week of the Young Child, on April 13, 2016, the Quinsigamond Children’s School hosted an opening reception for the Children’s School Art Exhibit.

Families, friends, staff, Early Childhood Education classes, ECE alumni and QCC employees and visitors viewed the displays. At the opening, families and guests watched a DVD show of the children creating their art and light refreshments were served.

“The children were so proud of their art being displayed in the college for all to see,” said Nancy Knight, Director of the Quinsigamond Children’s School. “Parents and guardians took many pictures of their children with their art.”

Various types of creations were on display in the QCC Administration Building main hall and in 107A. Art work included table and easel paintings and 3-D art with foam, wood and metals. Various other art with water colors, 3-D chalk, tempera paint, and bio colors used with different instruments on a variety of surfaces such as foil, filters, canvas and paper were hung in the hallways and room 107A.

“Throughout the weeks, visitors and staff from QCC have shared wonderful comments and were very grateful to see the art,” Ms. Knight said. “The exhibit brought many smiles to all of us.”

“The quote on the QCC hallway wall states ‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up,’ by Pablo Picasso. Our hope is that all of the children remain artists and creators as they develop into adulthood and become future college students,” she said.

This event is made possible by the dedication of the teachers, faculty and ECE students. Other college departments such as Food Services, Facilities and the Print Shop support this event. The Art Exhibit would not be successful without our young artists and their family and extended family members.
