Loretta LaRoche Show A Success, Raises Money For Lilly

April 2016

Almost $11,000 was raised by the Phi Theta Kappa through the evening with Loretta LaRoche, acclaimed stress expert, motivational speaker, author and humorist.

The money raised goes towards supporting the chapter’s project to help fund Lilly, one of Worcester Library’s bookmobiles that travels to public schools and family events in Worcester to help improve children’s literacy.

Phi Theta Kappa advisor Bonnie Coleman said more than 300 tickets were sold, and money also was raised through a silent auction.

The QCC Faculty Jazz Ensemble performed as part of the event, featuring John Solaperto, Tom Hebert, Rick Ricardi, Jose Castillo and Jim Heffernan.

The Alpha Zeta Theta Chapter thanks everyone who came out to support the event, as well as QCC President Gail Carberry, the QCC Foundation and QCC Community Engagement for their support of the chapter’s mission to help promote literacy in the Worcester area.

QCC’s Alpha Zeta Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society has committed to raise more than $100,000 over the next three years to support staffing, operation and maintenance of the bookmobile.

Lilly and its on-board collection of more than 5,000 books, audiobooks and DVDs makes stops at Worcester public schools as well as local preschools, after-school programs, and children's community events.
