Worcester, MA – September 22, 2014 – QCC will conduct a test of its emergency siren and public address system Wednesday, September 24. The test will be conducted through-out the day with one “full” test between 1:00 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Neighbors of the College should be aware that the test will be very loud and will be heard throughout the campus and within a radius of two square miles for approximately fifteen minutes. In addition to the siren, there will also be a voice message indicating that this is a test of the system.

Wednesday’s exercise is a required test to ensure the equipment is working properly. Local police and fire departments have been notified. Residents need not take any action.

The system will only be used for emergencies, such as:

  • Emergency campus closings
  • Campus building emergencies
  • Potential life-threatening situations on campus
