Quinsigamond Community College Celebrates Opening of New Satellite Location at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School

Worcester, MA – December 6, 2011 – QCC celebrated its newest satellite location at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough today, with a reception attended by both QCC and Assabet Valley faculty and staff, constituents, elected officials, community leaders, the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce and the QCC Foundation Board. The new QCC satellite location will serve students in the Marlborough-area with programming being taught in the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School proper.

Superintendant of Schools, Mary Jo Nawrocki, greeted the attendees and discussed the fruition of a “grand vision” that began several years ago with a dialog between QCC and Assabet Valley, thanking those who participated in the planning and realization of the new satellite location.               

QCC President, Gail Carberry, gave a brief overview of the new QCC programming at Assabet Valley which includes General Education courses, Business courses that have an articulation component with Nichols College, an HVAC training certificate program (with on-site HVAC lab) and Solar Photo-Voltaic training certificate program (also with on-site lab). Dr. Carberry also thanked and congratulated those in the community for participating in the launch and for making the first semester a success.

Local businessman and Marlborough Chamber of Commerce member, Jack Cutone, also spoke about the positive impact the new partnership will have on the business community, as well as the new location’s impact on local students with aspirations to higher education.
