Worcester, Ma – Together with Congressman Richard Neal, Senator Richard Moore, Representative Jennifer Callahan, Representative John Fernandes, and additional state and local elected officials, President Gail Carberry of Quinsigamond Community College and the Blackstone Valley and Milford Area Chambers of Commerce will host an update on expanding access to higher education in the region on Monday, March 29 at 9 a.m. at the Double Tree Hotel in Milford.

QCC is pleased to begin a process to explore potential locations to expand its presence in the Blackstone Valley and Milford area. The College will follow a similar process and business model that it used in the year leading up to the opening of its new Southbridge location, one based on strategic partnerships in the community and a shared strategy for success.

QCC will provide an update on the planning and strategy sessions that have occurred since October and will also announce potential plans to offer non-credit and workforce training opportunities in the area.

Congressman Neal, who was instrumental in the opening of QCC Southbridge, is leading the charge in the Blackstone Valley – Milford region. Over 50 community and business leaders are supporting the effort as well.

“Despite the economy, we feel we can continue to grow in order to meet our mission of providing affordable, high quality education and workforce development to the region,” stated QCC President Dr. Gail E. Carberry. “Blackstone Valley and Milford residents have long deserved optimal access to affordable educational opportunities and career training that will help stimulate local business growth and job opportunities.”

Currently, just over 1,000 students attend Quinsigamond from the Blackstone Valley - Milford area.
