Worcester, Ma – Quinsigamond Community College’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Dale Allen as the College’s first Vice President for Community Engagement.

Allen has worked in higher education for fifteen years, specializing in advancing the connections between colleges and the various communities with which they interact – schools, businesses, elected officials, and neighborhoods, among others. While at Springfield College as the Director of Community Relations for 7 years, Allen coordinated all aspects of the institution’s community engagement, including collaborative efforts between the college and businesses, government leaders, and organizations within the City of Springfield, as well activities to secure private funding support. He also wrote and managed dozens of grants, totaling over $8 million, to promote college/community engagement projects and programs.

Most recently, Allen was the Director of Institutional Strategy at the Cecil Group, a Boston-based company, where he established relationships between institutions, such as colleges or medical centers, and the communities in which they are located.

Allen is currently President of the Massachusetts Career Development Institute, served on the Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three years, was past president of the Springfield Partners for Community Action, and served on numerous other urban affairs boards and committees for public schools, foundations, and universities. He is finishing his Doctorate in Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts-Boston, where he also received a masters degree in Public Policy. Allen received his BS and M.Ed. degrees from Springfield College.

“We’re thrilled to have attracted such an experienced professional and look forward to working with Dale as Quinsigamond continues to grow,” stated QCC President Gail Carberry
