WORCESTER, Ma – As part of the College’s National Poetry Month festivities in April, Quinsigamond Community College will be hosting the third annual Worcester Poetry Showcase on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00pm.

Sponsored by the QCC Alden Library and the Worcester County Poetry Association (WCPA), the Showcase will feature local poetry contest winners including Kat O’Connor, whose poem “Marfa Mystery Lights” won first place in the WCPA 2007 contest.  Joining her are Worcester Magazine 2008 winners Leone Scanlon, Emily Waskevich, and Joseph Gustafson.

Part of this year’s showcase will be a Worcester Youth Slam demonstration of slam poetry from the young writers who participate in local slam competitions.  Team members will represent Worcester at the Brave New Voices International Youth Slam Festival in Washington, DC in July.

The Showcase will be held in room 109 in the Harrington Learning Center on QCC’s campus.  The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. For further information, contact Dale LaBonte at 508-854-7472 or dlabonte [at] qcc.mass.edu.
