WORCESTER –   Anita Depatie of Auburn, a student at Quinsigamond Community College, has been awarded a $5,000 Promise of Nursing Massachusetts scholarship from the Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association.

The scholarship will allow Mrs. Depatie to continue her studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston, beginning in September of this year.  The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) will honor the 2008 Promise of Nursing scholarship recipients during its awards ceremony at the NSNA’s 56th Annual Convention in Grapevine, Texas.

Among numerous other activities and projects, Mrs. Depatie serves as QCC’s Student Representative to the College’s Board of Trustees. Her inspiration to enter the nursing field came from her work as a member of the Community Emergency Response Team in Auburn, where she lives.  Mrs. Depatie is a member and actively involved in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at QCC; she has also volunteered for Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, and raised money for the Multiple Sclerosis Challenge Walk and Sherry’s House.  She is a mother of three and works part time at UMass Memorial Health Care.

“Education is one of our greatest personal assets.  The experience and personal enrichment that I have gained over the past 4.5 years at QCC is invaluable.  I’m looking forward to now furthering my nursing education at UMass Boston,” Mrs. Depatie stated.
