WORCESTER –   Quinsigamond Community College, in conjunction with the Worcester County House of Corrections, will offer a Community Outreach Dental Care Program for select inmates of the facility.

One day each week during the month of February, sixteen inmates from the Worcester County House of Corrections (WCHOC) will come to QCC for dental care.  The group is comprised of prisoners in the Work Release and Correctional Opportunity Advancement Program, both having only minimum security inmates in the program.  Dental care will be provided by QCC faculty and students in the Allied Dental Services program.

“We are thrilled that both the Worcester County House of Corrections and our students will benefit from this outreach pilot program,” QCC President Gail Carberry stated.

The WCHOC will take advantage of the state-of-the-art dental clinic on QCC’s campus, as it does not have facilities of its own to provide care.  The sixteen inmates will return one day a week during the month of February for care and follow-up services.

“This partnership is a great collaborative outreach effort to help meet the unmet oral health needs of an underserved population,” added Jane Gauthier, Professor and Coordinator of the Dental Hygiene Program. “It is a benefit not only to the recipients of the care but also to our students.”
