Worcester, MA---Quinsigamond Community College Interim President Sheila Sykes will present the QCC Trustees’ Citizen Award to Mr. Warner S. Fletcher at the College’s  Commencement Ceremony on May 18.  The award is given by the Board of Trustees to acknowledge a significant contribution made by an individual or organization in advancing Quinsigamond Community College.  Mr. Fletcher, a prominent Worcester attorney, is a long-time friend and benefactor of the College.

He has been keenly aware of Quinsigamond’s importance to Worcester and its surrounding communities for years.  Over that time, he has been influential in facilitating philanthropic giving to the College which is transforming the campus in a number of ways.

Gifts to Quinsigamond in which Mr. Fletcher has played a role currently exceed $1M.  The College’s Dental Clinic and Applied Arts Lab renovations, the Alden Library collection development, scholarships for local Hispanic youth, and the future creation of a One-Stop-Enrollment Center are the results.

Mr. Fletcher was born and raised in Worcester.  He attended the Choate School, Williams College, and obtained his J.D. from Boston University.  He is founder of Fletcher, Tilton and Wipple, PC, one of the premier law firms in Central Massachusetts and the oldest one in Worcester.  The attorney is also active in other local organizations including the United Way of Central Mass. and the American Antiquarian Society.  He is a Trustee of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester Art Museum and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.  The retired Navy Lieutenant is also a Trustee of the George I. Alden Trust, Hoche Scofield Foundation and is Chairman of the Stoddard Charitable Trust.  Most recently, Mr. Fletcher has played a key philanthropic role in Quinsigamond’s $4M capital campaign to renovate its North Wing into a state-of-the art enrollment center.
