Charles Darosa

Director of Operations, CPS Technologies

How did you get started?

I started out as a Material Handler at a plant in Rhode Island when I was just a teenager and over time came more responsibility and opportunity. In a very short amount of time I had worked my way up to Supervisor very early in my career. It felt good to move up, so I kept at it, got as much training as I could and here I am."

You've got to set your sights high, no matter where you start. I started at the bottom, but I knew where I wanted to go and I put in the work to get the training, earned my Associates Degree, and I've spent my whole career earning new certificates and making myself an indispensable part of the company.

What's your favorite part of your job?

"I love the field, it is evolving every day. I've spent a lot of time working with streamlining and energy savings, and I surprise myself all the time finding new ways, new corners, where I can help make the business run more efficiently just by making small changes. There's always a challenge, and I'll always be there to meet it."

What's the key to success in this business?

"You've got to set your sights high, no matter where you start. I started at the bottom, but I knew where I wanted to go and I put in the work  to get the training, earned my Associates Degree, and I've spent my whole career earning new certificates and making myself an indispensable part of the company. It feels good to know you're the best at what you do, and that you deserve everything you've got."

What advice would you have to someone trying to get started?

"Be ready for some hard work, don't shy away from it. This is a business for people who want to get out there and get things done, and you will be rewarded for your attitude."
