This program is open to all students, faculty, and staff to have the opportunity to learn from their community. From 10 AM-12 PM, workshops will cover topics on tips and tricks in the classroom, self-care and mental wellness, professional development and leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Afterwards, enjoy lunch on us from 2PM-4 PM.

• What Blackboard is and what it is used for 
• The importance of using your student email 
• Tips and strategies for using QCC’s resources  
• How to access two free Blackboard courses to set yourself up for success 

You will have opportunities to ask questions during this workshop and will earn a digital badge for attending.

WHY DENIM DAY IS IMPORTANT:

It’s a celebration of determination

Sheer determination can help us achieve many things. It was through determination alone that many legislations and acts were passed in favor of sexual assault survivors. Had people given up, orthodox laws would still have been in place.

It’s a celebration of unity

Both men and women, of all ages and backgrounds, can be victims of sexual assault. Therefore, we must show our support and solidarity with them. Coming together as a community will lead to a better future for generations to come.

It’s a celebration of women power

Had it not been for women supporting women during 1999, Denim Day would not have existed today. Women can be each other’s biggest allies as they come from shared experiences due to patriarch

QCC is transitioning to Blackboard Ultra, which is Blackboard’s new, modern-looking course view. Attending this workshop led by the Online Learning Coaches is a great way to set yourself up for academic success by previewing what Blackboard Ultra courses look like and learning how to do the following: 

• Navigate your courses 
• Post and respond to discussion boards 
• Submit assignments 
• Use course messages 
• Find announcements, grades, and feedback  

Some summer Blackboard courses will be in the Ultra course view; all fall Blackboard courses will be in the Ultra course view, so it’s good to prepare now! You will have opportunities to ask questions during this workshop and will earn a digital badge for attending.

What is Fresh Check Day?

Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event for colleges that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting giveaways. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and help to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally.

The Respiratory Care Club will be hosting QCC's 3rd Annual Lung Walk on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11am - 4pm at QCC's Upper Track (Rain Location: QCC Athletic Center). 

This event will have sponsored walkers, a family activity area containing face painting, sack races, carnival-style games like ring toss and children's prizes, a 50/50 raffle, Basket raffles, and Respiratory Care Club t-shirts and small items for sale. Additionally, the event will have a Lung Awareness Education table and a Respiratory Care program table.

The Respiratory Care Club will offer refreshments for sale in the form of freshly popped popcorn, cotton candy, coffee, water, and sodas.

There will also be Food Trucks available for other food options. 

Join the Respiratory Care Club and bring awareness to respiratory health and wellness! 

Support the Wyverns, enjoy food trucks, some QCC give-a-ways. Bring your bagged chairs, a blanket and enjoy the game. The Office of Community Engagement will also present the spring award to an organization or individual in the City who is making baseball programs available to youths of all ages and abilities. The Community Engagement Award will be presented between games.
