Academic year 2024-2025 is the 35th year of implementation of the Massachusetts Mandatory Health Insurance Law. Under this law, each Massachusetts Community College must require all students taking nine or more credit hours in the Day or DCE Divisions to participate in the  Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is received by the deadline. Free care is not considered comparable coverage. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions for additional information.

Students of the Massachusetts Community Colleges will be enrolled for policy year 2024-25 in a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. A description of the plan can be downloaded at www.gallagherstudent.com/qcc by selecting “My Benefits & Plan Information” on the left-hand side under the header “My Student Health Insurance Plan". If you have comparable coverage you may wish to waive participation in the Student Health Insurance Plan.  Students who wish to waive coverage must complete the on-line waiver process below after they are enrolled:

  1. Go to Health Insurance Waiver Page.
  2. New users must create an account - returning users use your previously created user name and password.
  3. Fill in all the required information.  If any information is missing, your waiver will NOT be accepted.

International Students - a school may not waive participation for “students with coverage from insurance carriers outside the U.S. and coverage by foreign National Health Service Programs, unless student is studying in a foreign country and the student’s insurance provides coverage in that location.” 956 CMR 8.05 (2) (c) (2).

Students will be notified by email when enrolled in the health insurance coverage and can then print a verification letter. An ID card will be mailed to the student by Blue Cross Blue Shield 7-10 business days after enrollment.
