QCC’s music curriculum is designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year intuitions, for those interested in further developing their musicianship, or provide our students with enough knowledge for entry level work requiring communication and critical thinking skills
Students will obtain a foundational education comprised of the humanities, social sciences and mathematics with a concentration in music knowledge, skill and a solid base of musical proficiency.
Our four credit Music Theory courses include a “hands-on” Piano Training lab in MUS 151 and an Ear Training lab in MUS 152. In addition to a comprehensive study of Music History students will perform with peers in Ensembles, and have the opportunity to interact with seasoned professionals through the QCC Community Jazz Orchestra. It is our sincere desire to attract students with a strong interest in music, whom might not otherwise experience college.
QCC’s theater curriculum is comprehensive in nature, designed to maximize opportunities for training that supports workforce entry upon completion. Our curriculum is also designed to support transfer to four-year institutions for students interested in theater arts, as well as providing our students with enough knowledge to enter the visual or performing arts workforce.
Students will obtain a fundamental understanding of the production process, including tickets sales, set design/construction, lights/sound, and marketing, front of house, props, costumes, and make-up/hair, as well as how to manage a production from rehearsal to performance to striking the production on closing night, preshow techniques and efficiencies, call times, sound and light cues, costume changes, front of house coordination and managing backstage. Students will also learn Actors Equity Association rules of stage management.
