Liberal Arts

The Liberal Arts Program is Quinsigamond's principal transfer program to a four-year college or university. It prepares students for life beyond college, developing the ability to learn and think, and a sense of self and community. It opens the door to a broad spectrum of career possibilities such as communications, counseling, education, health care, journalism, law, management, public service, science, and social work.

Getting a Solid Academic Background

The Liberal Arts program is the equivalent of the first two years (four semesters) of study at a four-year college or university. Required courses and guided electives provide a solid background in social sciences, mathematics, natural sciences, and humanities.  There is also opportunity to take courses of particular interest to the student.   The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts transfers into a variety of majors and programs—business, economics, computer science, natural resources, pre-law, pre-med, psychology, and social work, to name a few.

Transferring to a Four-Year College or University

Transfer to a wide range of public and private four-year schools is possible. Past Quinsigamond Liberal Arts students have transferred to schools as close to home as Worcester State, Clark, Assumption, U. Mass-Amherst and as far away as University of Texas, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Colorado State University, and California State Long Beach. Students have also had exceptional success transferring to some of the top-notch four-year schools such as Smith College and Wellesley College. A Joint Admissions Program with the four University of Massachusetts schools (Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell) and seven Massachusetts state colleges (Bridgewater, Fitchburg, Framingham, Salem, Westfield, Worcester, and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams) guarantees one admission to similar liberal arts programs at those schools, if one graduates with a G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher, from Quinsigamond’s Liberal Arts Program.
